Through the Responsibility Deal we have shown that businesses can make changes to improve the health and well-being of both their staff and customers. We believe that the same principles could apply at a local level. Indeed, many local authorities already run local schemes which encourage this sort of activity.
The Department of Health is working with the Local Government Association, local authorities, local businesses and other organisations to develop a toolkit to support engagement of local businesses to take simple actions in the areas of alcohol, food, health at work and physical activity.
