We will take action to encourage community sport by increasing the number of sports clubs registering as Community Amateur Sports Clubs and we will promote increased participation in the community through this network.
Pledge update, November 2012
In the past year the Sport and Recreation Alliance has continued to promote the Community Amateur Sport Club (CASC) scheme, and has supported the efforts of national governing bodies to increase participation. Since September 2011 over 200 clubs have registered as CASCs. The Alliance has worked closely with the government to improve and strengthen the scheme to ensure that a greater number of sports clubs can access, and benefit from, CASC status. This in turn will facilitate the delivery of sporting opportunities in communities across the country.
