The Policy Innovation Research Unit (PIRU), part of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, has published a new paper in the Journal of Public Health setting out the “logic model” which underpins the evaluation of the Public Health Responsibility Deal (RD).

This model is used to inform the independent Responsibility Deal evaluation which PIRU is now conducting. The paper points out that evaluations of complex interventions like the RD require not just assessment of effects (including outcomes), but also a clear conceptualisation of the intervention and its processes. The evaluation is currently putting together a jigsaw of evidence about processes, mechanisms and potential future health and non-health impacts, drawing on the current scientific evidence.

Further details of the paper, and the logic model are available from Paula.Fry@lshtm.ac.uk
