The Spencer Group have launched a wellbeing programme which helps employees to become healthier and happier. Their wellbeing is a priority for our business and as such the programme includes a range of monthly promotions and educational programmes.

The programme consists of monthly promotional campaigns and educational programmes, running alongside each other. The monthly promotional campaigns commenced in
February and will end in May. Similarly, the educational programmes commence in February and tackle issues such as smoking, exercise and alcohol abuse.

Employees will be able to vote for the campaign they feel is most rewarding and improves their wellbeing and the outcome of the vote will form the next stage of the programme.
The initiative commenced with workplace health checks that were undertaken by Nuffield as part of the education and awareness element. This covered body mass index data being collated and it allowed cholesterol & blood pressure checks to be made. This educational element provided employees the opportunity to sit on a one to one basis with the Nuffield specialist and it enabled them to ask questions and ask for advice on how best to improve their diet.

The Spencer Group implemented a workplace exercise policy which allows us to drive home the value and importance of being healthy. Staff confirmed their availability for activities such as games of football, Zumba, Spinning, Pilates & Yoga on a weekly basis that were made available during normal working contractual hours.

The Spencer Group will also introduce a Flexi-time scheme that provides staff with a choice of the actual times they work their contracted hours. They will be able to start one hour early or one hour later than their contracted start time each day with the finish time reflected by their contracted hours.

As these initiatives progress and to further support them, The Spencer Group is providing fruit, free of charge to all staff. We will then assess the impact of providing this free fruit to establish if the initiative has been a success.
