H4. Healthier Staff Restaurants

Committed since:

17 February, 2015

Delivery plan:

Submitted: 17 February, 2015

There has already been good progress in providing healthier options for staff in our site restaurant. Currently, the following measures have already been implemented:

• Signposting staff with the Eat Well plate posters
• Providing a wider variety of healthier options
• Water is freely available with a water cooler and bottled water priced cheaper than
carbonated drinks
• Providing a traffic light system so that staff can make more informed choices

In addition, the trust has now signed up to the Eat Well Nurse Well campaign which aims to:
• Reduce super-sized portions of snacks available in the canteens
• Ensure vending machines have healthier options for staff
• Protect staff mealtimes
• Provide incentives for staff to lead healthier lifestyles

To fulfill the healthier staff restaurants pledge and the Eat Well Nurse Well campaign, further information on healthy eating including leaflets and posters will be put on display in the restaurant . Following the completion of the recreational area at an additional site, healthy eating information and posters will also be displayed. In addition, vending machine contracts will be reviewed to ensure healthier options are offered to staff. A sustained campaign for staff to take their breaks will begin in the coming months will regular communications.
