AB InBev UK has pledged to support the Local Alcohol Action Areas announced by the Government. We will deliver this through our partnership with the Alcohol Education Trust, and by looking at other opportunities.
We believe education has a vital role to play in creating a culture of responsible drinking. To this end we launched a three year partnership with the Alcohol Education Trust in 2013, focused on helping parents talk to their children about responsible drinking. As result of our funding in 2013, the Alcohol Education Trust was able to recruit a new training co-ordinator in the North East of England to provide expert advice through direct talks to parents in schools. They also distribute dedicated guidance leaflets supported by online communications and newsletters. To help the Alcohol Education Trust extend the reach and impact of their work, we will now also fund a new parent training co-ordinator in the North West of England.
We also believe targeted local action has a vital role to play in tackling problem drinking. We are therefore making a commitment to support intervention in the Local Alcohol Action Areas. We will do this through our partnership with the Alcohol Education Trust, with the parent training co-ordinators we are funding giving particular focus to the Local Alcohol Action Areas in the North West and the North East of England, as well as by targeting new and existing partnerships and activity towards these areas.
