Delivery plan:

Submitted: 9 May, 2014

At MBD we have adopted a number of practices to measure and support stress and mental health problems as and when they arise across our business.

* In 2013 we launched a values and behavioural framework to create a respectful culture where our employees feel valued. Our values framework and the associated training that all employees received was aimed at encouraging employees to consider the impact of their behaviours and the impact that unacceptable behaviours can have on their colleagues and work environment. One of the aims of the behavioural framework is to create and sustain a culture where employees are treated with respect and free from those behaviours that can have an impact on an individuals well being. All managers have recently undertaken bullying and harassment training.

* We have recently introduced a Wellbeing Policy. Its purpose is to raise awareness amongst employees on the symptoms and causes of stress and the related support that the company will provide. We use our internal intranet to communicate this policy and associated initiatives that support its implementation.

* We work closely with our OH providers to ensure that they deliver events and initiatives that promote positive health and well being. Our OH providers also provide us with guidance on making workplace adjustments for employees with specific requirements including mental health conditions in order to enable them to remain in work or return to work more quickly. We also where required will support employees with individual counseling sessions.

* Our HR teams have recently undertaking Mentally Healthy Workplace training and are now trained in rolling this out internally. This training will provide managers with a broad awareness of mental health allowing them to identify the key factors that contribute to a mentally healthy workplace, as well as improving their skills and confidence in dealing with mental health and well being across the business.
