Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust is committed to supporting employees with chronic health conditions to attain and remain at work. The Occupational Health Department including the Clinical Ergonomic Team will assess staff and advise both employees and managers on supportive measures and adjustments. Work place assessment will be provided when needed. Employees will be able to self-refer to the Occupational Health Department for advice and support on Chronic Health conditions and their work. The Trust counsellors will develop and deliver training packages on Mental Health in the workplace aimed at both managers to help them support staff in the workplace with mental health conditions and also to employees to encourage them to feel confident re disclosing mental health conditions.
Building personal resilience training is available for all staff to help them to identify ways of improving their mental well-being. The Trust is a committed Mindful Employer and will advertise this on recruitment materials and in training. The guides for employees and for employers and line managers will be included on the organisation’s Health and Wellbeing Intranet site and publicised via the weekly staff newsletter.
