Committed since:

2 December, 2013

Delivery plan:

Submitted: 21 January, 2014

We at BAM Nuttall pledge to fully support employees who are experiencing domestic violence or abuse, which can be either physical or mental in nature. We recognize that the violence or abuse can affect any of our employees regardless of gender or age.

All employees are encouraged to seek support either through their line manager or from the HR department.

Such matters will be dealt with confidentially and sensitivity. The support employees will receive, which where appropriate will be practical in nature, will include:
• Getting help and support from third party organisations
• Making temporary adjustments in the work environment
• Reporting the matter to the Police
• How we will manage instances where the perpetrator is also one of our employees

HR Managers will be required to undertake Domestic Abuse awareness training.

Guidance will be developed to help managers to identify common signs of domestic abuse and violence and how to support employees who may be affected by it. This guidance will include:
• Organisations where help and support can be obtained
• Making temporary adjustments in the work place
• Reporting the matter to the Police
• How to manage instances where the perpetrator is also one of our employees
• Confidentiality

All employees are able to access an independent Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) which includes the provision of confidential counselling and advice on a 24-7 basis. This service is accessed through a 0800 number or via the internet. The EAP also provides support for managers again on a 24-7 basis. Managers also have access to a managers support area through the EAP.

Publicity materials on domestic abuse and violence will be available to heighten awareness.
