We recognise that our people are the foundation to our success and, as a result, the health and wellbeing of our employees is firmly embedded into our company culture.
To ensure we maintain, enhance and protect the health and wellbeing of our employees we have developed a Health and Wellbeing Strategy and Action Plan and work closely with the HSE to ensure the causes of occupational illness are managed.
In recognising our commitment to the PHRD we will develop processes to ensure:
• we report annually on the health and wellbeing of employees
• we work with our third party OH Provider to ensure compliance with relevant standards
• develop a programme to actively promote health and wellbeing and the effective management of health
• work with our supply chain and sub-contractors to encourage participation in our commitments
Reporting on Health and Wellbeing
We will publicly confirm our commitment in our Annual Report & Accounts and on our company website as well as measuring and reporting on absence and employee turnover.
Compliance with OH Standards
Our third party provider is already working towards SEQOHS and expects to be fully compliant by April 2014.
Developing a programme to Promote Health and Wellbeing
As part of our current Strategy we have an action plan which supports a number of initiatives. This includes providing support for employees with chronic health conditions, assistance with smoking cessation, health checks for employees, mental health adjustments, advice on a healthy lifestyle, active travel and physical activity in the workplace. We have a committee of Champions who will help us deliver these objectives both centrally and locally.
Work with our Supply Chain
Our supply chain and sub-contractors are asked to share our values and a required to comply with our Health and Safety and Drugs and Alcohol Policies. Additionally, we will actively encourage Supply Chain participation in local health and wellbeing initiatives.
