Hinchingbrooke Hospital operates as a smoke free site but has struggled to manage this effectively with visitors to the hospital that smoke. To try and control this and limit visitors that smoke a smoking shelter was erected in 2010.The Trust has had a no smoking policy for staff in place for a number of years.Staff can self refer directly to the smoking cessation team based in the community.As part of a maintaining a healthier lifestyle, all new staff are offered an information pack that includes advice and support on stopping smoking.The health and wellbeing event in 2012 included support from the Respiratory Nurse Specialist with visual displays of the effects of smoking.Work planned for 2013:A review of the current no smoking policy.Respiratory Nurse Specialist to attend the 2013 health and wellbeing event for staff.
