We will review our Health, Wellbeing and Attendance Policy during 2012 which includes information on supporting staff with chronic conditions. We will update our Managing Attendance workshop for managers to provide reference to and information on chronic conditions. We will continue to review long term absence cases at our Trustwide Sickness Absence Case Review group, which meets monthly, which provides a case review approach to individual cases. We provide a range of support for staff with chronic conditions including Occupational Health, CARE confidential listening service, counselling and CBT. Our on-site Occupational Health department provides advice on fitness to work and reasonable adjustments for specific cases as required. Staff are able to self refer directly to a Physiotherapist. We will undertake work to improve the timeliness of referrals. We will continue to consider and make reasonable adjustments for employees to enable them to remain at work or assist them back to work. During absence, managers keep in touch with the employee to provide support and upon their return a return to work interview is conducted enabling a discussion regarding health and any advice or support required. We have a Wellbeing site on our intranet which includes signposting to services e,g NHS Choices and Mindful Employer. We will further develop the site to include more information regarding chronic conditions.
