H1. Chronic Conditions Guide and Carers
1 January, 2013
Submitted: 2 March, 2012
The British Dietetic Association (BDA) will adopt the Responsibility Deal's guidance to managers on chronic conditions and circulate this to all line managers, asking them to implement the principles when managing relevant staff. We will ensure that staff with long term conditions are provided with relevant professional guidance and assistance. We will refer staff to confidential occupational health advisors free of charge. We will also provide access to specialist clinicians and complementary therapy services as part of our contributory health scheme for staff and their family members. We will undertake regular work station assessments, more frequently for people with chronic or long term conditions, to assess their changing needs. As part of regular supervision, staff with chronic or long term conditions will have the opportunity to speak openly and freely about their condition and their needs, if they so wish to, or have access to workplace advocates through their elected tu reps. We will commit to making all possible reasonable adjustments to enable staff to work as productively, safely and efficiently as they can, while managing their condition.
