H3. Health & Wellbeing Report

Committed since:

5 April, 2011

Delivery plan:

Submitted: 10 January, 2012

The Health and Wellbeing (HWB) Board at the Department of Health (DH) aims to promote, support, encourage and inspire health and wellbeing for staff. Success has been measured through staff surveys and questionnaires. Increased use of 'Wellpoint' machines will provide snapshot statistics on a range of physical measures. Negotiations are underway to offer physical health checks to staff through our occupational health provider.Absence statistics are collected electronically through our business management system and quarterly reports produced by HR. The Cabinet Office publishes civil service absence statistics, enabling individual departments to compare themselves to the average. [see attached link for the latest available figures: http://www.civilservice.gov.uk/about/improving/health-and-wellbeing/sickness-absence%5DIn the Department of Health, information is gathered in terms of working days lost and we include a sub-category of days lost through 'stress-related' illness. Quarterly figures are monitored by the HWB Board and a summary will be included the Department of Healths annual report alongside progress on other HWB measures.
