Physical activity in the workplace: In the past the organisation has run physical activity challenges across the organisation encouraging staff to 'clock' up miles over a period of time as part of a team. The team with the most miles 'clocked' won a team prize. Some staff in the organisation are currently taking part in the NHS walking challenge and we are planning to advertise this as an activity for the organisation to take part in from January 2012 as we enter Olympic year.In terms of other work planned the health and wellbeing working group are currently surveying staff to gauge interest in the establishment of various activities for 2012 such as:•walking groups•running groups•physical challenge between the office locations•cycle trials•supporting sporting teams such as football, hockey, netballIn addition to this we plan to provide staff with information on what facilities are available locally to the offices that people could go to at lunchtime or before or after work. We work using a flexi-time system which enables individuals to start/finish work earlier/later or to take shorted/longer lunch breaks to enable staff to get the right work life balance to fit in activity or attend classes etc.We also plan to develop a series of staff stories where individuals can share information on what they do outside of work to encourage/motivate others to have a go.
