1603 employees of Astrazeneca took part in the Global Corporate Challenge (GCC) in 2011. The company paid the fees, a total of £94,000. Not only was there a marked benefit to staff but, in addition, the same number of children, in local schools, were able to enter the Childrens Challenge at no cost to them, their parents or their schools. This exposure to physical exercise, tips on healthy nutrition and the benefits of learning more about the geography of the countries they virtually visited was seen to be of great benefit. Global Childrenís Challenge is a health initiative designed by the GCC to get children from all over the world active, and instill in them the habit and importance of daily exercise for the rest of their lives.
