The Co-operative approach to business is guided by Co-operative values and principles, and includes concern for community. With a presence in every postal area, community impact is extensive and supported by a comprehensive community investment programme. We will continue to provide support to the Co-operative streetgames young volunteers in 2011/2012. This programme aims to improve the life chances of young people aged 16 to 25 through sport, and operates in around 100 locations in the 20% most disadvantaged communities across England and Wales. We have already committed to invest a further £1.3m in the programme from 2012-2014 when the project is rolled out to communities in England and Wales. We will continue to support the Department of Healths Change4Life movement, using a variety of communication channels to raise consumer awareness of the benefits of physical activity. These communication channels will include (but are not restricted to) in-store communications, customer and member magazines, internet and social media. We will continue to provide grants to community groups through the Co-operative membership community fund, a proportion of these grants will go to support projects to enable more children and adults get more active, more often.
