A number of our sites have gym facilities for employees to use for a small fee. Employees can also take advantage of a number of discounts at local and national facilities.We have run a pedometer programme for the last 10 years which has encouraged employees to take 10,000 steps a day by taking part in a site-to-site challenge. However in 2012 we will be launching a new physical activity initiative to leverage the power of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games being in London. Employees will form teams to complete 2012km throughout 2012 by walking, running, swimming, rowing etc. The initiative will aim to increase levels of physical activity and increase engagement among employees, and will commence in Q1 of 2012.In addition to off-site walking maps as part of the Active Travel pledge, we will be developing walking maps for short, on-site walks for those employees who prefer to stay on site. We aim to introduce these on a site-by-site basis throughout 2012. Starting in Q1, working with our colleagues in facilities we will be developing signage to be displayed throughout our sites to encourage employees to increase their level of movement throughout the day. This will involve putting up signs in meeting rooms to remind them to take short movement breaks and next to areas with lifts to encourage employees to take the stairs. Our target for this to be complete is by Q3 of 2012.
