Since January 2011, the businesses trading under the Laithewaites brand have ensured that all new label designs have a back label which includes clear unit guides, NHS guidelines and the pregnancy warning. Currently 51 per cent of Laithwaites stock (in volume terms) complies. The Virgin Wine and Averys businesses are committed to working with their suppliers to change the labelling on their wines and they have communicated and agreed requirements with them which will be implemented over the coming 12 months. The information has also been added to all new vintage updates and range extensions and where possible, to off-the-shelf bottles as well. Our policy is that proofs for new labels will only be approved if they meet the information requirements. Going forward we are ensuring that the Drinkaware website details, rather than the logo, is included on the label.
