Please describe how you report on the health and wellbeing of your employees, including annual sickness rates
As a small business we take a practical but simple approach to sickness management. our team is encouraged not to attend the office if unwell in order to avoid others catching anything contagious.
We prefer to suggest home based working in such conditions, as a first option and then formal sickness leave to be taken if the team member is unfit to work.
we follow the 5 day self certification model and request formal sickness notes thereafter.
Sick leave is managed on a staff dashboard which covers leave, sickness and compassionate/ other leave.
By taking a pragmatic approach, coupled with flexibility in working hours arrangements, we have an extremely low sickness level in the business.
We are shortly moving to home based working and have advised all of our team of the need for a balanced work/ life balance, and have stressed the need for breaks to be taken regularly and for physical activity to be a planned feature of each working day. We will talk through with each team member on a weekly basis, to ensure that this balance is being satisfactorily achieved.
