H8. Young People in the Workplace
19 March, 2013
Submitted: 30 November, -0001
Please describe how you have provided information and support on health and wellbeing for young people in your organisation over the last year. This may include information on any induction arrangements for new staff/young people and any benefits that have accrued. There is a 2000-character limit when completing this section.
We are currently exploring a number of job roles for young people which focus on Apprenticeship schemes, which will be tailored to provide new and existing employees with the opportunity of gaining a recognised qualification. Working in partnership with carefully selected providers, we aim to provide a pre and full inductions and will reward Apprentices with a competitive salary and benefits which reflects our commitment to the scheme.
All our Apprentices, whether new or existing, will have a dedicated mentor to support their learning and training whilst in the workplace. Apprentices will be encouraged to keep close contact with their fellow trainees so that they maintain the links and mutual support which develop as part of an apprentice team.
We also support a number of Graduates who have been working in Operational roles and across our Commercial Services, recognising the challenge these young people face in moving from full time education to full time work. Before joining us, we have been able to invite our Graduates to attend a number of days ‘On-Boarding’ where they can meet their mentor and line manager, and gain a feel for our business and culture.
We are also keen to support local communities and have recently engaged with the Dallaglio foundation, a charity which provides support for disadvantaged young people through the medium of rugby. In collaboration with them, we hope to offer dates for taster days, work experience, mentoring and interview support in the very near future.
