H3. Health & Wellbeing Report
1 January, 2013
Submitted: 5 May, 2015
Please describe how you report on the health and wellbeing of your employees, including annual sickness rates
At Newcastle University we continue to publish our health, safety and wellbeing information in our annual report, available on our website at http://www.ncl.ac.uk/about/values/publications.htm
Despite having a mature health and safety management system Newcastle University has been reporting a greater number of incidents than most comparator institutions.
To address this a new on-line incident management system and the associated database went live on 1st May 2015. A new Incident Reporting, Investigation and Follow-up Health & Safety (H&S) Management Standard and Guidance http://www.ncl.ac.uk/ohss/safety/reporting/ has also been issued in support of this system. This is the next in the series of H&S Management Standards in the new succinct format. This document explains the arrangements needed to ensure the necessary actions are taken in the event of any health and safety incident. It covers the process, roles and responsibilities. The ultimate aim of this H&S Management Standard is to ensure that lessons are learned from incidents and acted upon so as to prevent or minimise their recurrence.
