H4. Healthier Staff Restaurants

Please decribe how you and your caterers have encouraged healthier restaurants/vending outlet/buffets (as applicable) for your staff over the last year. There is a 2000-character limit when completing this section.
The initiatives we deliver at National Grid include interactive Nutrition workshops on a range of subjects including immunity, energy, diabetes prevention and brain health. We also provide educational based games, tools and factsheets on nutrition for our wellbeing champions to use in their own teams, sharing the knowledge about how to make healthier choices during their working day and personal lives. These habits have also been reported to have a positive effect within their own families too. All sessions are followed by a survey to assess the impact of the session. We have up to date Nutritional guides on eating on the go and one focussing on Night shift workers to support that population with National Grid. We are also piloting a Nutrition challenge which supports healthy eating behaviours which we plan to roll out across the business..
Our caterers in the last year have made progress by introducing full GDA labelling across all sites, a reduction in high fat dishes by 6%, removal of all artificial trans fats and introduced online traing to all staff in the importnance of health & wellbeing, Introduction of healthy meal deals, and signage to interanl nutrition educational information.
