Submitted: 30 April, 2015
Through your physical activity pledges you will be working with employees, customers/consumers and/or local communities. For each group (as applicable) please describe the specific activities or projects you have undertaken over the past year.
For example, employee incentive schemes to promote physical activity, awareness raising activities or improvements to facilites to promote active travel.
We will continue to brief all staff at our quarterly full company meetings on the commitments we have collectively made in relation to the Active Travel pledge. Within the next 12 months, Mentzendorff & Co will move to a new Head Office premises, this search has taken into account our goal to promote Active Travel participation by short-listing sites with adequate showering/changing facilities for our office based staff. These facilities will allow staff to comfortably engage in physical activity before and during the working day.
For example, supporting/sponsoring local physical activity programmes, promoting physical activity to customers through website campaigns or in-store materials.
Mentzendorff & Co run a variety of charitable fund raising activities, one being a biannual European cycle tour which sees a number of our key customers taking part. In 2013, 10 key customers were involved. Plans for the 2015 tour have recently been finalised, with 11 key customers and 4 members of staff taking part, cycling 442 km's over 4 days through southern France. All riders will be raising funds individually for the Benevolent Wine Trade Charity.
For example, support for community-based physical activity programmes (such as funding, sponsorship or other promotion activity), working with local partners to engage communities is physical activity opportunities.
Mentzendorff & Co. is a keen charitable sponsor of The Dallaglio Foundation, a charity set up by ex England International Rugby Star Lawrence Dallaglio. A main focus for the foundation is a very ambitious youth development and social inclusion programme, called RugbyWorks. This is a great example of community-based physical activity programme that we will continue to support throughout 2015.
