H6. Staff Health Checks

How many of your employees have used the staff health check offer? If unknown, please explain why.
All personnel who have been offered a contract are required to complete a pre-placement Occupational Health Questionnaire. Different questionnaires are issued to Safety Critical and Non-Safety Critical workers. By means of risk assessment, McNicholas has determined that all personnel in “Safety Critical” roles will be required to attend an Occupational Health surveillance and Fitness for Task assessment with our provider.
Each questionnaire is screened by our occupational health provider to identify any potential problems which may have been caused by previous employment or other issues of ill-health that may affect an individual’s ability to perform their job in a safe manner. All safety critical workers are required to attend an annual Occupational Health Surveillance assessment. Should any potential problems be identified, we will provide help and support to individuals which may include making reasonable adjustments to their role or workplace, or encouraging them to visit their GP, opticians, the NHS etc. Where applicable we will also advise individuals to attend any NHS Health Checks or screening programmes that may be relevant.
We continually monitor our workforce and encourage them to attend all their health checks and look after their wellbeing. We also communicate health initiatives, promotions and wellbeing to all our workforce through annual roadshows, on notice boards, poster campaigns, in monthly bulletins, on our intranet and tool box talks.
