Please describe how you report on the health and wellbeing of your employees, including annual sickness rates
Supporting this in 2014, GSK has launched a number of expectations, one of which involves releasing energy. This is defined as “engaging constructively with others and demonstrating a positive mindset” and “creating a healthy, engaging and inclusive working environment that is sustainable over time”.
We believe that our in-house Energy and Resilience programmes enable GSK to release energy, in the midst of continuous change and demand in order to ensure individuals and teams are healthy and high performing. Our suite of programmes provides individuals and teams with options for what most suits their needs and most have a physical activity and nutrition component. Our newest program, Time for a Moment™, was evaluated in 2014 demonstrating a positive impact; program summary and evaluation findings below:
Time for a Moment™ teaches a unique and powerful way of achieving in the moment recovery, mindfulness and engagement. It’s an on-line programme that enables employees to learn to meditate quickly and powerfully, with exercises that take just one minute a day or less. It helps to use moments of meditation to reduce stress and develop a bright, clear mind that is resilient, focussed, fully present and ready for anything. Case Study: An evaluation of 45 employees who completed Time for a Moment™ training in January 2014 demonstrated a number of significant improvements in terms of their personal energy and resilience. Most notably there was a 12% improvement in terms of their perception of being able to balance their energy expenditure and energy renewal.
In 2014, we also conducted rigorous analysis for our Personal Resilience and Energy for Performance® Programs. Statistical analysis of a global pool of graduates has demonstrated significant improvements on all our energy and resilience indices, including mindfulness, personal energy, recovery, positivity and adaptability to change up to a year after completing the training.
