H5. Smoking Cessation/Respiratory Health
2 December, 2013
Submitted: 28 April, 2015
Please describe how you have encourged your staff to stop smoking and reduced other risks in the workplace to respiratory health over the last year. There is a 2000 character limit when completing this section.
Materials to encourage employees to consider the benefits of stopping smoking continue to be made available.
For those who prefer more direct support we have ensured that, where available, the local services offered by Chemists and the NHS have been identified. These resources follow the national campaigns of No Smoking Day and Stoptober.
We have used our company specific social media site, Yammer, to promote Stoptober.
As the lifestyle choice of stopping smoking isn’t limited to the specific national campaign days / weeks we have produced a QR coded poster that links to stop smoking materials and support resources.
Our activity plans identify methods of working using materials, plant, equipment and techniques which either eliminate or minimize the dust, fumes or vapours generated.
RPE toolbox talks and face fit checks are undertaken to coincide with the activities being undertaken on sites.
Working with our key supply chain partners we have introduced a revised PPE standard aimed at raising the bar.
On a quarterly basis we review data with our OH provider and use this to ensure that we address any trends.
We have committed to the IOSH occupational cancer campaign.
