H1. Chronic Conditions Guide and Carers

BA continues to support employees with chronic health conditions. All employees and managers have access to our own OH provider British Airways Health Service to obtain help and advice on fitness to work and rehabilitation. Preventing work related ill health and detecting any deterioration in employee’s health continues to be a priority for BA. Our health surveillance programme has been extended this year to offer more medical assessments outside regular business hours and at more locations. To further support the business we are opening a second Health Centre that will provide additional space and the very latest equipment.
Our ‘Disability Toolkit’ is available on our corporate website. It contains guidance on legislation and best practice to attract disabled candidates and support disabled colleagues.
Our Employee Assistance Provider offers a range of services and information to support staff and their families with personal and work related issues 365 days a year. As well as accessing counselling, employees can also get advice on various issues including legal and debt problems. 6.3% of employees used the service between February 2014 and January 2015.
BA continues to work in partnership with external organisations including Access to Work and Action on Hearing Loss to assist employees in remaining at work.
