Liverpool Community Health (LCH) recognises that employees that have long-term chronic conditions very often require additional support to enable them to stay in work. The Trust has in place a number of policies that set put support available to staff affected by chronic conditions and guidance for line managers and staff to aid them in implementation. One such policy is Supporting Positive Attendance which promotes regular contact with the affected staff member and early referral to Occupational Health services for further support and advice. The policy sets out a range of support initiatives that managers can provide such as flexible working, temporary reduced hours and phased returns following periods of illness. To further support workers, LCH has a Reasonable Adjustments Policy which enables proactive discussions between line manager and staff member to identify adjustments that can be made within the workplace to support early return to work or maintain someone in work whilst managing their health condition. These two policies together with the Trusts Flexible Working Policy, that enables employee to request changes to their working patterns either on a temporary or permanent basis, provide robust support for staff affected by Chronic Conditions.
Additional to the policies described above the Trust provides access to Occupational Health Services, a Physiotherapy service and Staff Support/Counselling services.
