H9. Domestic Violence

Please describe measures you have taken to ensure that an appropriate, safe and sensitive response can be implemented to support your staff in response to experience of stalking, violence or abuse in their lives, which has an effect on people in the workplace.
Cornwall Council have set up a Domestic Abuse management group . The group consists of the Assistant Head of People and Organisational Development, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Strategy Manager, HR Policy Consultant and Health and Wellbeing Lead. The group meet monthly, have CLT/senior management support and are working towards the following objectives:
Training 30 employees as Domestic Abuse Risk Assessors. Assessors include Occupational Health Nurses, Health Champions, Health and Safety advisors and HR professionals.
Cornwall Council have become members of the Corporate Action Against Domestic Violence (CAADV). The Corporate Alliance will write Cornwall Councils Domestic Abuse policy, provide guidance on setting up intranet pages for employees and managers and create a communications plan to reach employees and management as part of the ongoing health and wellbeing programme. The Corporate Alliance will also help Cornwall Council to measure the effectiveness of the interventions.
Cornwall Council are committed to utilising their internal expert resources to provide all managers with Domestic Abuse awareness training and difficult conversation training.
A domestic abuse risk assessor network has been set up with risk assessors having access to guidance through regular network meetings, newsletters and intranet pages.
