P4. Physical Activity in the Workplace

Through your physical activity pledges you will be working with employees, customers/consumers and/or local communities. For each group (as applicable) please describe the specific activities or projects you have undertaken over the past year.
For example, employee incentive schemes to promote physical activity, awareness raising activities or improvements to facilites to promote active travel.
We continue to focus on encouraging active lifestyles for employees, with for example a post Christmas weight-loss club, where charitable donations depended on the amount of weight lost in the Jan to Feb window; this was well supported by office based staff, who undertook initial, and interim weigh-ins to check progress. Around 20 staff supported the initiative, with the winner losing around 10 - 15% of body weight.
We continue to fund both Five a side football sessions and Boot Camp circuit training on a weekly basis, and employees have also been undertaking charitable challenges, including the cross desert marathon by one intrepid athlete.
One employee successfully canoed the Thames from Source to London Bridge during the winter, completing the course in five days.
For example, supporting/sponsoring local physical activity programmes, promoting physical activity to customers through website campaigns or in-store materials.
We recently completed a fancy dress netball match against staff of one of our key customers, again with proceeds generated going to charity.
For example, support for community-based physical activity programmes (such as funding, sponsorship or other promotion activity), working with local partners to engage communities is physical activity opportunities.

Roughly 25% based on Company headcount of c.130 people, half of which are office based.

Yes, due to greater range of activities we are undertaking and generally higher levels of health awareness.

Difficult to guage the exact level of increase as roughly half of employees are home based, and tracking changes in activity and lifestyle is less straightforward.
