H9. Domestic Violence

Please describe measures you have taken to ensure that an appropriate, safe and sensitive response can be implemented to support your staff in response to experience of stalking, violence or abuse in their lives, which has an effect on people in the workplace.
In our first period since signing the domestic violence pledge we have launched our commitment to the pledge through a series of staff briefings and also using our social media sites.
We have clear information on resources available on all staff noticeboards throughout our sites.
We have amended relevant polices to reflect our commitment. Eg. Sickness policy excluding absence as a result of domestic violence from adversely affecting pay.
We have an identified senior manager who acts as a champion of the issue for staff and a Team Leader who is the relationships champion for service users.
We have made contact with local domestic violence services and both made their details available and used them as a source of local knowledge on the issue.
We have one instance when we used BTâ€™s nuisance call service and liaised with the police to stop phone harassment of one of our employees and are clearer about how to do this if required again in the future.
We will continue to review the effectiveness of our approach and refresh the issue on a regular basis to ensure that new staff are made aware of our stance in respect of domestic violence.
