H9. Domestic Violence

Please describe measures you have taken to ensure that an appropriate, safe and sensitive response can be implemented to support your staff in response to experience of stalking, violence or abuse in their lives, which has an effect on people in the workplace.
CAADA has continued to take a variety of steps to support its growing number of staff over the last year.
We have provided two days of internal training for all new staff on domestic abuse awareness. This training is designed to increase staff knowledge on domestic abuse and encourage them to raise any queries they may have in a safe environment.
All staff can receive individual and specialised support from designated colleagues. Some of our employees are former practitioners in the domestic abuse sector and are always on hand should someone need particular advice or support. We regularly communicate contact details of key support organisations and useful contacts within our own staff group.
We have a high number of Line Managers and a dedicated HR resource at CAADA. Over the past year we have invested in training our Line Managers in a variety of areas, in particular on performance management and sickness and attendance. This has further equipped our managers to support our employees. Our sickness and attendance policy asks that all employees telephone in person to their manager or HR each day they are unable to attend for work. It is important we hear from our staff in person if they are absent to ensure they are safe and have the support they need, regardless of the reason. As part of our performance management policy staff are encouraged to discuss wellbeing, health and safety, particular support requests within their support and supervision sessions.
We provide an employee assistance scheme through BUPA for all employees, their partners and any children living with them under seventeen years old. This is a free and confidential service available all the time that we regularly promote at CAADA.
Managers and staff have our domestic abuse policy which we aim to keep updated in line with best practice.
