(b) If not, when will accreditation be achieved? Please indicate when in-house accreditation will be achieved AND when External provider / contractor accreditation will be achieved
Newcastle University Occupational Health registered for SEQOHS (Safe Effective Quality Occupational Health Service) accreditation In November 2012 with a two year window to achieve accreditation. This is a voluntary accreditation system for occupational health services, based on published standards. Its purpose is to help to raise the overall standard of care provided by occupational health services.
Occupational Health continues to progress with Stage 1 pre accreditation with the drafting and review of relevant policy/procedural guidance required for Stage 2 of accreditation. This has proved to be a very demanding task given OH workload demands but the intention is to upload the portfolio of evidence by end of July 2014 for assessment/feedback on any actions required. Subject to approval of this portfolio it is expected the formal accreditation assessment visit will take place third quarter 2014.
The Occupational Health service for Newcastle University medical students is provided through the Newcastle Hospitals NHS Trust OH service. This service achieved SEQOHS accreditation in March 2014.
