H9. Domestic Violence

Please describe measures you have taken to ensure that an appropriate, safe and sensitive response can be implemented to support your staff in response to experience of stalking, violence or abuse in their lives, which has an effect on people in the workplace.
We have a policy for Domestic Abuse, which is currently being revised. This provides advice and guidance on how we support staff who are subject to abuse.
Training is provided to all staff on domestic abuse as part of the adult safeguarding training. More focused training has been provided on honour based abuse, forced marriage and female genital mutilation.
We have a Senior Nurse for Adult Safeguarding who, as part of her role provides expert advice, training and support to employees on domestic abuse.
We have promoted the guidance for employers and employees through a variety of communication channels e.g. intranet, leaflets.
Staff are able to seek advice and support from Human Resources, Suffolk Occupational Health, CARE confidential listening service and the Chaplaincy team. We also promote the relevant external telephone advice lines.
