P3. Active Travel

Through your physical activity pledges you will be working with employees, customers/consumers and/or local communities. For each group (as applicable) please describe the specific activities or projects you have undertaken over the past year.
For example, employee incentive schemes to promote physical activity, awareness raising activities or improvements to facilites to promote active travel.
We have promoted the use of walking and cycling as a means of travel along with the health benefits to their working and personal life via e-mails and at team meetings.
Pedometers have been issued to those who wanted to participate to help motivate and increase daily activity encouraging staff to aim for 10,000 steps per day.
We have promoted the use of the following apps to encourage walking i.e. Route Maps to monitor distance walked/cycled: Hidden Newcastle, Endomondo Sports Tracker.
We have still to develope partnership Links with Recyke Your Bike to link staff in with good quality, cost effective recycled bikes, we will take this forward.
For example, supporting/sponsoring local physical activity programmes, promoting physical activity to customers through website campaigns or in-store materials.
For example, support for community-based physical activity programmes (such as funding, sponsorship or other promotion activity), working with local partners to engage communities is physical activity opportunities.
Please estimate the number of your employees who report they are regularly using active modes of travel and explain how you arrived at this estimate.
Staff are encoraged to share walks they have done and share photographs.
Those using the pedometers keep a record of the unmber of steps they walk per day.
One member of staff regualrly uses his bike to travel to work and uses the shower facilities in our office.

If your active travel pledge activities have focused on customers or local communities, have you observed or measured any increases in active travel in these groups? If yes, please provide details and where you have been able to measure this please explain how you arrived at this estimate.
We would be interested to know if your pledge activity over the last year has delivered a measurable increase in participation in physical activity. If so, please describe and provide an estimate of the level of increase and how you measured this. There is a 2000-character limit when completing this section.
At least 7 of our team has increased their physical activety at weekends by either walking and cycling, they are encouraged talk and share the routes they have taken.
